BLUE MURDER - MEET THE TEAM

Caroline Quentin reprises her lead role as DCI Janine Lewis, a single mother of four children who juggles the demands of family life with her high-profile job in a new series of Blue Murder starting 3 December on ITV1.

As a prelude to the series starting we have a handy guide to who's who on the team.

DCI JANINE LEWIS (Caroline Quentin) is forthright yet sympathetic. Janine juggles the responsibility of raising four children alone with her commitment to leading her team in solving high profile murders. With her natural instinct and highly tuned emotional intelligence, Janine has a knack of getting to the heart of the matter.

DI RICHARD MAYNE (Ian Kelsey) is ambitious and confident, but sometimes self-contained. He works very closely with Janine and they have a long standing friendship built on trust and respect. With the past behind them, their relationship is strictly professional.

DS IAN BUTCHERS (Paul Loughran) Earnest and diligent, DS Butchers is a reliable copper. A stickler for the right way of doing things, he’s keen to please but he’s no Sherlock Holmes. Butchers is often paired with Shap in the investigations and the two enjoy friendly rivalry and banter.

DS TONY SHAP (Nicholas Murchie) is a wily, street-wise copper, who is not averse to bending the rules. Charismatic, with a touch of sleaze, Shap fancies himself as something of a lady killer. Shap enjoys his job and loves nothing better than being at work.

DC LISA GOODALL (Rhea Bailey) is quietly ambitious and a good team player. Taking a step up from coffee maker, Lisa embraces every opportunity and strives to work hard in order to progress her career.

DCS LOUISE HOGG (Saskia Wickham) is Janine’s boss. She rules with a sense of quiet authority and Janine is sometimes unsure whether she is friend or foe.
