ACTOR
David Jason’s acting career has encompassed
stage, film and television although his position as one of
Britain’s best-loved actors has been cemented over the last
decade by popular television roles such as Del Boy in Only Fools
and Horses, Pop Larkin in The Darling Buds of May and Inspector
Jack Frost in A Touch of Frost. His most recent television roles
for ITV have included Ghostboat and Diamond Geezer, of which he
was also Executive Producer.
Much of his early work was on stage and his first television
role came after he was spotted by a producer in a summer show in
Bournemouth. His West End roles have included Under Milk Wood,
The Rivals and the lead in No Sex Please…We’re British!
His other television work has included Porridge, Open All Hours,
Lucky Feller, A Sharp Intake of Breath, A Bit of a Do, All The
King’s Men and the award winning productions Porterhouse Blue
and The Bullion Boys. David has received many awards for his
work but most notably was the BAFTA Award in 1988 for ‘Best
Actor’ and his OBE in 1993 for his work in drama. David was
knighted in 2005 for his services to acting. He has recently
starred as Death’s Assistant, Albert, in Sky One’s
production of Terry Pratchett’s The Hogfather.
