Jeff joined London Weekend Television as a
researcher in 1983 in Current Affairs. He worked on a number of
documentaries, sport shows, comedy shows and
magazine/entertainment shows, before moving on to drama. In
1993, Jeff joined forces with Terry Winsor to write a film about
Britain’s biggest ever robbery, Fools Gold starring Sean Bean.
Amongst others, film credits since then include The Magician
(writer/producer) Open Fire, The Place Of The Dead
(writer/producer), and The One That got Away, starring Paul
McGann.
In 1996, Jeff was appointed Head of Factual Drama for London
Weekend Television and then Granada. During this time, he has
executive produced programmes such as The Murder of Stephen
Lawrence, This Is Personal - The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper,
Essex Boys, My Beautiful Son, Hot Money, Danielle Cable:
Eyewitness, Wall of Silence, Planespotting and See No Evil: The
Moors Murders.
Recent writing credits for Jeff include Dirty Filthy Love,
Pierrepoint starring Timothy Spall which had cinema release last
year, Christmas Lights, Northern Lights and the recent series of
City Lights.
