David started directing in 1973 and during the
following years was involved with The Sandbaggers, When The Boat
Comes In, The Beiderbecke Affair, Bergerac and Lovejoy to name a
few.
In 1986 David was appointed Deputy Controller of Entertainment
at Yorkshire Television. He produced and directed A Bit of A Do,
Home to Roost and Stay Lucky, and has produced The New Statesman
starring Rik Mayall.
David was appointed Controller of Entertainment in 1993, then
Controller of Comedy, Drama and Drama Features in 1998. During
this time, he has worked on every A Touch of Frost in the
capacity of director, producer or executive producer, picking up
a number of awards along the way.
David has also been Executive Producer of a host of shows such
as Chiller, Circle of Deceit, Brides In The Bath, Booze Cruise,
The Quest I,II & III, Fat Friends, Diamond Geezer and
Ghostboat.
David was awarded the OBE in 1997 for services to broadcasting
and a Royal Television Society Fellowship in 2006.
